Can I link files to tasks?

I'm using Windows XP. I work on a lot of long term projects using Word,
Access & Excel. I like to keep a reminder in my task file about these
projects.

Can I link my individual files that I use to my task file? When I try to do
so, Outlook blocks them. (I know I can link files to individuals, but I
haven't found a way to do it with tasks yet)

Do you mean Insert a hyperlink?

Open a Task, then insert File, select a file (gently - don't dbl click it)
and then use the tiny drop down arrow beside the Insert button (bottom right
of the pane) to choose Hyperlink.
