I would use an embedded Excel object to do this.

Insert | Object | Create New and choose Excel Worksheet. Then click away
from the worksheet so it's deactivate, then select it on the slide.

Open the Custom Animation tab and click Add Effect | Object Actions | Open.
This will let you click to open the Worksheet during the presentation.

If you want it to open when you click on the worksheet specifically(instead
of just a general mouseclick), then add a trigger to the animation.
Double-click the Object Action in the custom animation pane and go to the
Timing tab. Click Triggers | Start Effect on Click Of | choose the worksheet
from the dropdown list.

If you haven't already done so
Office Button > PowerPoint options >Popular > Show Developer Tab

In this tab click on More Controls (hammer & spanner)

Scroll down and see if you have Microsoft Office Spreadsheet 11 control (I
have it but it is maybe left over from 2003)

If you do, this may do what you need. Experiment!
