I've been designing my website and have used a font that I installed onto my
computer. However when I upload my website the font only displays on my
computer, not when i'm on anybody elses, presumably because they don't have
the same font installed. What I was wondering is can I embed the font into my
website so all users can view my pages with the correct font? And if so, how?
Thanks in advance.

Hi nicolachick,

There is no way you can embed a font into a web page (at least I don't know
.... maybe there is). But there are some alternatives of doing it.

You can upload the font file to your server and prompt your visiters to
download and install the font.

Or you can make the text an image so that the visitors' computers consider
the block of words an image instead of a string of text. Firstly, type the
text your want in a word processor (Word, FrontPage, even Notepad will work),
then press Alt + PrintScrn (located right to F12). Afterwards, in FrontPage,
press Ctrl + V to paste it. Finally use the image toolbar (go to View >
Toolbars, Image if it is not visible) to cut out all the unnesscary parts.
FrontPage will prompt you to save the image when you save the web page. If
your web page has a background, make a background of the image text
transparent and save the image as gif.

If you are not familiar with image manipulation in FrontPage, you can paste
in any image editor as well before saving and linking the image to your web
page.

1) Fonts are copyrighted and you may not have permission to propagate it to others
2) If it is not copyrighted, Search the web for WEFT
- a technology (w/ security issues) that allows some user to download a font from a web

IMHO
use images where critical or std fonts

Thanks for taking the time to reply, sounds like I would be best to change
the main headers to images and then select an alternative font for the main
body of text because I am not sure otherwise how I would link specific words.
Cheers for your help. Nicola

You'll get a much higher-quality image if you do this in a graphics program,
however.
