Can I eliminate file extension names? ie .htm

When creating a web site from a template, all page names automatically
have the .htm extension. Can this be removed? What I am trying to
achieve is this.... If I want to give someone a web address to go to a
certain page within a site, all I want to give them is the
homepage/pagetitle so they won't have to type in the .htm at the end.
For example, I want to send them to the contact page of the XYZ.com
site, how can they type in www.xyz.com/contact without having to add
the .htm? I cannot access a specific page without adding the .htm.
You don't have to add the .htm for the homepage, why for another page
within the site? Thanks

No. You have to place the page in a folder, so using your example, "contact" would be the name of
the folder, and the page in the "contact" folder would have one of the following names, index.htm,
index.html, default.htm, etc. Then you will be able to do what you want.

The correct name will be the default document (home page) name required by your web host.
