can I download from multiple folders on my pop server for one acco

I am using windows mail and I have my e-mail account configured as a pop3
account. I have a spam filter set up through my web service so spams are sent
to a spam folder, and when windows mail downloads, it only pulls from the
inbox.

I want to have the spam filtering done at the server level, so that only
real messages get pulled in by my blackberry (I get a ton of spam), but I
would like windows mail to pull from the spam folder on the server and drop
right into a spam or junk folder in the mail client.

Is there a way to configure windows mail to pull from folders besides the
inbox? I can try setting it up as an IMAP account if that will help, but I do
not know if this will make any difference.

thanks for any and all help.

You can't do that with POP3, however, you should be able to with IMAP. Ask
your ISP is they offer IMAP service.

Well, first of all, thanks for the quick response. The email is on my own
domain, hosted by 1and1 (the annoying ad people). I believe IMAP is an
option, I just never learned how and what difference it makes, so I always
use pop. I guess I have begun another learning adventure.

thanks,

IMAP keeps all mail on the server so its available from anywhere. Most
clients will show you the special IMAP folder on the email server (usually
Sent Items, Inbox, Deleted Items, etc) and some will even let you use them
instead of local folders (I.E. save your sent items on the server instead of
a local folder). In this case, you should be able to access the Spam folder
on the server and move items in and out of it.
