Can i do a clean install of xp and how

I'm having a few problems and would like to start again
from scratch by reinstalling windows. I have no windows
disks but have system retore which keeps all my backup
files hide away on my harddrive. would this be possible
and how would i go about it. cheers

do you mean system save partition,system restore does

not do a complete backup and does not save all you files
on your hard drive?

Such a restore install by its nature IS a clean install that will
totally wipe your current installation, and restore it to factory
condition.
