Can I delete a task but not the related e-mails?

We have an old task that was just completed, but there was a lot of e-mail
discussion going on around it (attached). We want the task to be deleted from
our task view, but we want to retain the related e-mails. Does Outlook
support this?
 
are the emails in the mailbox folders? did you try using file, save to save
the emails off the task?
