Can I copy XP disc for backup?

Question to anybody:

I understand that Windows XP provides the owner capability
to install XP twice onto their repective PC's for hume
use. My question though, before I install my updated
version of XP tonight, is if I make a copy of the XP CD-
ROM for backup purposes (for fear that I may have to re-
install my XP more than twice), does this count against my
2 installations that are allowed by Microsoft?

Thanks,
Please e-mail me with an answer, I greatly appreciate it!

Where did you get this "2 installations" idea from? I think someone has
mis-informed you.

Firstly, You can only install Windows XP onto ONE computer. Not Two.

Secondly, You can re-install Windows XP onto the same piece of hardware as
many times as you wish, so if your system gets messed-up or you need to
reinstall for another reason, no problem.

Lastly, CD-ROMS are read only media. A CD-Rom has no way of knowing how many
times it has been read, or of knowing how many of those "reads" were
re-installs or how many were people just putting the disk in the drive and
checking it out, so what you do with the disk obviously can't be counted as
anything against you.

Hope that helps.
