I would like to change the default position for pictures to through rather
than in line with text. Is it possible to change this particular default?
It's in the arrange section of format (picture tools)

In Word 2003, go to Tools > Options > Edit, or in Word 2007 go to Office
button > Word Options > Advanced. Change the "Insert/paste pictures as"
dropdown to "Through".

Try This:

1. Click on the round Microsoft Office button in the upper left-hand corner
of your screen.

2. Click on the Word Options button at the bottom of the window that pops up.

3. Click on "Advanced" on the left-hand side of the next window.

4. Look under the "Cut, Copy, and Paste" section. There is an option that
says, "Insert/paste picture as". Click on the the dropdown box next to it and
choose "Through."

4. Click OK.

Next time you insert a picture, the default should be "through."

Hope that helps!
