can I cancel spell check for one letter?

I want to type a letter and NOT have spell check auto correct for me. Can
this be done and then undone?
 
In Word, click on Tools | Options | Spelling & Grammar | uncheck
the "Check spelling as you type" box | OK. Word should remember
this setting until you change it back. You can manually run
spellcheck at any time by pressing the F7 key.
 
Tools | Options | Spelling & Grammar: Hide spelling errors in this document
(you will still be able to run spell check manually). Or Ctrl+A, Tools |
Language | Set Language: "Do not check spelling or grammar."
