Can I automatically send a read receipt without a request

Is there a way to automatically send a read receipt without the other person
requesting one? IE: if I want to automatically notify everyone I've read
their email, or even one particualar person?
 
not really, but you could use rules to let them know it arrived in your
inbox.
 
Would you also want to send read receipts to spammers? (Which would
probably go to other people who's email address was used to forge the
From: header in the spam).
