Can I ____ in PowerPoint 2007 ?

Can PPT 2007 animate text separate from its' underline? For example:

"The ___ is blue."

Using the above sentence, the word "sky" should appear when the mouse is
clicked.

I am currently using the cover-up method to accomplish this task in PPT
2003. Initially, I show only the underline by using a cover-up object on the
word. When the mouse is clicked, the cover-up object disappears and reveals
the word and underline together. Albiet a bit tedious to set up, this method
works beautifully in a presentation.

However, because of varying resolutions and timings, this method works
horribly when transfered to the web. It would be very nice indeed if PPT
2007 could animate text separate from its' underline.

I would appreciate any info. Thanks

Hi Jake,

a lot has changed in 2007 - but not animation. You still need to either
cover up the "missing" word or animate it in a separate text box.

Best regards,

Thank you for the info Ute. I am still curious, though. Is PPT 2007 now
able to do what MS Word does with underlined text where it allows underlined
text to be a different color from its' underline? If this is the case, a
possible workaround would be to hide the underlined text as the backgroud
color and show the underline as the normal text color. Then, on a mouse
click, change the font color for the whole text object to the normal text
color. For multiple "blanks", multiple text objects could be used. Any
thoughts?

PowerPoint 2007 supports underline color different from text color. What you
say also works: have the font color same as background color and underline
color as the rest of the text color. Apply emphasis to change font color of
the entire text and the word appears above the underline.
