Dip: dynamic IP
Sip: static IP

i know if the autoIP checked, you can't distribute another static
private IP anymore.

can they coexist without adding another ethernet-card in winXP?

In TCP/IP Settings general tab you can configure computer to obtain an
IP address automatically or use a static one. In Alternate configuration
tab you may use an alternative APIPA addressing or user configured
static address. So, no need for another ethernet card.

it seems not coexist.for the static ip will only be available by the
failure of dynamic ip acquired.

Yes, first is used the IP provided by DHCP. In the case of failure the
alternate one. If you need to have two IPs simultaneously you need two NICs.

thank you,Pete.
I use virtual machine (vpc) to have two ips simultaneously, but it takes
too much memory.
The vpc can makes the same NIC get another dynamic ip or a static ip
easily.
so Pet,do you think there is anthor smaller tool takes the function of
that?
