Can auto time-sync period be changed?

The automated time-sync period default is weekly.

Can I change this to a different period? If so, how?

Yes, you can. It involves a registry edit but MVP Doug Knox has a little
utility that will do it for you:

Hi,

I downloaded the recommended tool, but an attempt at installation results in:

"Runtime error '713':

Class not registered.
You need the following files to be installed on your machine. MSSTDFMT.DLL."

This file is installed on my machine in two places: in the system32 folder
and at msocache\allusers

Does anyone know a solution?

Thanks to Doug Knox for providing the instructions for solving this manually:

"To make the registry change manually.

Open a Command Prompt window and enter

NET STOP W32TIME

Leave the Command Prompt window open.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpClient

Locate the SpecialPollInterval value and double click it. Select the

Decimal radio button. Enter the time between check, in seconds. For

example 3600 = 1 hour, 7200 = 2 hours and etc. Click Ok. Close
Regedit.

Go back to the Command Prompt window and enter NET START W32TIME.
This restarts the Windows Internet Time service and automatically forces
an update."
