Hi

- Can anyone recommend a free utility to repair Windows XP?

- e.g. Maybe a good (free) registry repair utility?

I do have Web access do not have access to a CD hence I cant
use the Windows "Repair" utility. (WindowXP Pro came on my
ThinkPad PC but without any CD! And in any case my CD-reader
doesnt work.)

My entire windows file system and/or registry(??) seems to be up the
spout!

My Windows XP Pro has previously been caused to crash violently
and totally several times by a dodgey iPod/USB2 PCMCIA slot
combination.

The net result is that it it keeps failing to find .DLL files and
several application
wont run. I have now uninstalled Windows SP2 and re-installed it. And
this
seems to have put quite a lot of .DLLs back.

I have also run "sfc /scannow" but this didnt come back with anything,
nor
did it seem to help very much.

Contact Lenovo tech support for Recovery Disks and/or how to restore
your system.

Did you try a System Restore to before you had the problem? If not, try
this. You can run System Restore from Safe Mode Command Prompt:

c:\Windows\System32\restore\rstrui.exe [enter]

I am not sure how you expect to fix your system without even the basics
available or working.. you should do as Malke suggests and contact Lenovo
support.. you will require re-installation media and a working CD drive..
