I use my laptop alone and have done for 2 years. Today I got this msg for
the first time:

Access Denied (policy_denied)

Your system policy has denied access to the requested URL.

For assistance, contact your network support team.

The site was http://www.willhill.com

Anyone have a remedy?

Regards,
Owen

I don't think it's you. I recollect reading somewhere that this occurs 'cos
the web server on that machine expects to load the initial page from a file
called index.html. This suggest that someone maintaining the site has either
deleted or renamed it. the web server doesn't allow you (as someone not
authorised) to browse their server. If you know the company concerned contact
them and speak to whoever looks after their site.

Although the other thing that it may be is that you've recnetly changed the
settings in Explorer (Tools Internet Options - and that this site falls
within the security settings that you've modified....

I had this out of the blue too. I am with Telwest Blueyonder cable and
wanted to have a look at something on the Sky.com website. Got page not
found, nothing unusual there. Thought maybe down for maintenance, tried
next day still not there.

Thought HoHo maybe telewest blocking the opposition j/k. Couldnt even
return an IP doing a ping so thought maybe DNS Error. Flushed DNS -
stil no joy. Someone i was chatting to on a different ISP was straight
in so i got them to ping www.sky.com and let me have the IP.

Going to http://195.173.72.99 got expected message - not allowed to
view server.
Going to http://195.173.72.99/skycom/home/ I get the Access Denied
(policy_denied) error.

Now i know there is no policy blocking that site here, i havent set one
and nobody else would have. Now I'm thinking maybe Telewest really ARE
blocking opposition! Phone telewest and they assure me they block NO
incoming or outgoing sites or protocols.

This is a weird one i gotta say, struggling to find answers, i am
wondering if it could have something to do with changes to RIPE, as
Neotrace has stopped working properly and i get this message:
Note: the default output of the RIPE Whois server
is changed. Your tools may need to be adjusted. See
http://www.ripe.net/db/news/abuse-proposal-20050331.html
for more details.

I don't know, i dont like things i can't explain :-/
