I logged off
properly and shut down my computer system and actually turned off the power
because we had a very severe thunder storm. When I attempt to log in I get
up to the screen where I choose my account and use my password it looks like
it starts to log in and then immediatily logs off. I have attempted to fully
reboot including turning off power and back on same thing I tried to us F8 to
get to last know good log on and still the same thing happens I enter my
password and it imediatily logs me off. I have received a virus scan alert
Mcaffee Activeshiedl has detected a virus on your computer we recommend that
you use the scan feature to scan all drives of your computer for viruses.
How can I get to a place to be able to do a scan ? how can I get to a dos
prompt ? and then what do I enter to run a virus scan? Please help asap I
need this system up and running? Thank you in advance to anyone who can help

could be that the virus simply replaced a vital windows file when it was
engaged. overwriting that file with a geniune windows file, will fix the
problem long enough for you to get in a clean out the virus before it takes
over again. insert your windows cd and reboot from it. then you will have
choice to repair windows via the install option or use the recovery console.
the recovery console will get you to the dos prompt.....

Thank you but I do not have a windows CD it was loaded on my system when I
bought it .....I did use the F10 on boot up for recovery but I recieved this
error...Error2:C:\minint\system32\restore.log missing when i hit ok it loads
again but I am right back to the profiles area and when I attempt to log in
to get to the desktop I get the same issue it says loading then it says
logging off and puts me back to the profile screen again. I am dead in the
water no start button no way to get anywhere
