I receive the following email, but when I go in to install this package I
think it calls itself 85.exe my vet antivir4use warns me it has a swen
worm???

Also when I try to type an email message to send out none of the keyboard is
as it shoujdl be, the "w" is a commer etc. Yet on word the keyboard still
types the correct letters as does this posting site?? What is happening? Do
I have a virus that is doing this or have I accidently hit a key that puts
the message into gobbdly gook. Thanks

Microsoft will never, ever send you any updates by email. These are all
emails with a virus attached. They are only opened and installed by the most
gullible people.

Greetings --

You're lucky that your antivirus application is protecting you
from your own gullibility.

What you received is either a very common, malicious hoax or the
output of a computer infected by one of several widely publicized,
wide-spread, mass emailing worms. The most widely-known are:

W32.Swen.A_mm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

W32.Dumaru_mm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

W32.Gibe_mm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

Microsoft never has, does not currently, and very probably never
will email unsolicited security patches. At the most, if, and only
if, you subscribe to their security notification newsletter, they will
send you an email informing you that a new patch is available for
downloading.

Any and all legitimate patches and updates are readily available
at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/. (Notice that this is the true
URL, rather than the bogus one that may have been contained in the
email you received.) Any messages that point to any other source(s) or
claim to have the patch attached are bogus.

You're receiving these emails because your email address is in
the address book of someone infected with a worm, and/or because you
posted your real email address somewhere on-line, either in a forum
accessible to the public and spambots, such as Usenet, or on an
untrustworthy web site that subsequently sold your address as part of
a mailing list. One thing you can do is notify _everyone_ with whom
you've ever corresponded via email that one or more of them may be
infected with a mass emailing worm, and should take the appropriate
steps.

There's probably no way of blocking all of the bogus messages, but
you can greatly reduce the number you get by creating a rule, based
upon the most commonly used subject lines, to delete the emails from
the server without ever downloading them.

Think that's something? I recently got an email supposedly from my credit
card company saying they were making a cross check on email addresses for
their card holders. Among the data they wanted was my credit card number
and my PIN. HELLO!

For another alert. Recently men have been appearing at the front door of
homes in a coat and tie with a clipboard. If a female answers the door they
advise they are taking a survey and would like to view her tits. THIS IS A
SCAM! It is not a real survey. He merely wishes to see her tits. Warn any
females you might come in contact with.

I got a scam email the other day from Yahoo-service or some
such, asking for my credit card info because they couldn't
renew my account. Since I don't have a paid Yahoo account I
sent the email and the message source to Yahoo so they can
begin to track them down.

Clipboard and a suit coat? A doctors' lab coat would work
better.

Any female or just the good looking ones?
