Can access network PCs but no internet

Hi

I've got a 3 PCs networked using a ADSL Modem/Router. One PC runs w2000, It
can access other PCs , but when I try to access the internet using IE I get
'page cannot be displayed'.

The Router's using DHCP and all the IPs look ok, I can ping the
gateway/router ok but if I try and access it using the browser It doesn't
see it on this particular PC

On all the other PCs do everything is OK

I've tried IP renew/release and reinstalling IP/TCP, browser, and rebooting
router etc and its still the same.

This situation occured after I ghosted a previous image to the w2000 PC, But
to my knowledge It was working when thw image was previously taken.

Any assistance appreciated

Okay, networking is not my strongest point but it sounds like you DNS may
not be working. If you check your settings using start>run>cmd (Dos prompt)
and then type ipconfig /all (Space before /) you should see both your LAN
and WAN settings.

If you compare this with the other PCs the difference may be obvious (For
W98 the command is winipcfg or something like that) and look for your DHCP
setting and DNS server settings.

Your router is probably 192.168.2.1 or similar and sometimes that will do
DNS for you, it will do no harm to switch to fixed IP and try using that or
simply copy from one of the others. This should get you to a point where you
can look for other problems if it still fails.

If you get the MS website from this numeric IP (in the browser address box)
it is most likely a DNS issue.
