Can a task be converted into an appointment?

Often I run into a situation where a task becomes an appointment. Is
there a way of converting that task into a time-specific (or even
day-specific) slot in my calendar?

Can the reverse be done, i.e. an appointment into a task?

Just drag the task onto the calendar. You can also start by highlighting the
calendar space, then drag the task over.

Drag a meeting to the tasks folder. I haven't tried it but expect it will
work.
