Can a Student version of Windows XP be upgraded to Vista?

I'm guessing no, But after an hour if searching online, I can't get THE
answer. I need to get a another version of XP Pro, but keep finding student
versions for the best price or people on Amazon list them as FULL Versions
and leave out the Student part till after you order it (my current problem)

While I'm asking can Some one provide a link to the Goods and bads of a
student version opposed to a Standard version. TIA

A Student version of Windows XP does not have upgrade rights to
a newer operating system, such as Windows Vista. It would be best
to purchase a conventional "Retail Version" of Windows XP.

Great thanks for the answer.

You did mention a "Retail" version as the Version of choice, is there a
problem with using a Full OEM version (obviously non-student, non Promo)

Office "Students and Teachers" does not have upgrade rights (to later
versions of Office), and I'd guess that while it's a retail product, the
same rules apply to the student versions of XP.

However, you can always do a clean install with the "Student" version of
Vista.
