Can a Reminder in OL 2002 open an item?

I am not at all familiar with the Calendar functions in Outlook. I can set
alarm reminders on certain days. Is there any way I can make this reminder
launch a program or open a Word document or such?

Nope, use Windows Scheduled Tasks instead for that (it's in the Control
Panel)
