Can a distribution list be the owner of a distribution list?

From what I can tell, members of a distribution list can only be added or
removed by the person who is the owner of that list.

Is there any way to create a distribution list and define all members of
that list (or members of a different distribution list) as the owner? We
would like to define distribution lists associated with each of our many
servers, so that members of the list for each server could be notified about
any hotfixes or other updates. Then, as various people join and leave
projects involving various servers, anyone could add or remove his name to a
distribution list as required. If only one person can modify the members on
any given list, it can be quite time-consuming and we've already had cases
where people were left off various lists and didn't get important
information on a timely basis. Letting everyone add or remove names from the
list would be much simpler and more efficient. (Yes, I suppose someone
could "sabotage" the list by adding or removing other peoples' names but
we're all grown-ups here and don't anticipate that kind of problem.)

Thanks in advance for any information.

Yes, I think that's possible, but it's really more of an Active Directory question than an Outlook question. You might want to confirm with the admins who hang out in the microsoft.public.exchange.admin newsgroup
