What kind of camcorder do you guys have? I'm looking to purchase a new one
soon and looking to see what's out there and which one people are using. I
currently have an analog Sony Handycam CCD-TR517.

Thanks,
newtechie

While others may disagree
If you are going to use MM2 get something that does dv-avi(ie mini dv
tape)- I dont know the model....

But why I have a camcorder may be different to why you want a cam. So you
may not get the best one for your needs if you copy me of whoever else
answers the thread.
Your best bet is to say what you want to do, what your budget is and what
sort of model you prefer. I like horizontal forms, you may prefer vertical.
I have 3 cams for doing different things, a small one for taking out and
about, two more professioanl models for doing my day to day work.......

Hi Graham,

My budget is $200-500. It would be used for concerts, plays, birthday
parties, local pageants, other events, and maybe professionally in the
future. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by horizontal and
vertical form. Great zooming is a must too!

Thanks,
newtechie

Hi newtechie
I have a Sony miniDV and really like it. Here is a suggestion for
you....check out www.cnet.com on the upper left just under Cnet Reviews
click on the word 'camcorders' ..... on the next screen upper left again
....click on 'camcorder buying guide' and check out all the possibilities.
There is a lot of information there, including reviews and different budget
categories and specs you should likely have. Its pretty comprehensive in
providing reviews and pricing. Good luck.
