Before anyone with date/time problems rushes out to buy a new battery, he
should first take note of whether he is losing time while the computer is
running or while it's powered off. If it's while powered off, the problem
*is* very likely the battery. But if it's while running, it can *not* be the
battery, because the battery isn't used while the computer is running.

Maybe you have the wrong timezone set.. Double-click the time, and
check the Time Zone tab.

As others have mentioned, look at replacing the battery.
If you're not technically inclined, then as a stopgap measure, have your
system automatically synchronize its clock with a time server. Double-click
on the system clock, then click on the Internet Time tab.
Under some circumstances I can't remember off the top of my head, that tab
may be missing, in which case, Google is your friend, or, I'm sure, somebody
will follow up on this here...

Yea, now he has effed up my nice and tidy chronological order in my

Is your time zone set correctly? If so, does it change only after you power
off the machine? If so, you might want to consider getting a new battery
for your CMOS soon.
