Calendar reminder symbol missing in Outlook 2007

Cmnsol

A VP at our company just asked me how to get the calendar reminder "bell"
icon back on his calendar appointments. In 2003, you see the bell on any
appointment that has a reminder. It's missing in 2007. How can this be
added back?

Thanks
Carmen

It is now only available in a table view.

thanks Milly. Any idea why this was removed from the normal day/week/month
view?

Well would someone that does work for Microsoft please put the icon back. I
totally rely on it as I receive meeting notices from external companies and
they quite often lose the reminder setting - particularly if they use Lotus.

I don't get the 'clutter' argument - they kept the private, re-occur and
attachment icons, what was the issue with the bell?

Microsoft is aware of the complaints. I don't expect it back in 2007 though.

Not all appointments are recurring, private or have attachments - the icon
is helpful. meetings can (usually) be identified by the subject so that icon
was axed - and reminders are turned of or on by default for all new items,
so they determined that icon could go.

I know you don't work for Microsoft and appreciate that you're just telling
us lower life-forms what you know but their attitude is awful. They have to
put it back. Simple as that.

No, actually they don't have to put it back. If enough users ask for it,
they may consider it for the next version but there is nothing that says
that they have to do anything with their software.

Just a simple observation.

Annoys me too.
I thought of an alternative. If you right click a meeting in Day view, you
can select automatic formatting and you can set a rule with a condition. I
did not yet figure out the exact rule but it will change the color of
meetings with a reminder.

This works only if you haven't assigned a category to the item.
http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2008/up080821.htm#2

http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/showreminders.htm creates a view that
shows items without reminders so you can set reminders - you can use these
fields in an autoformatting rule to highlight items.

I also find the fact that the icon is missing extremely agitating. I have no
idea whether there is a reminder unless i open the item. It's probably the
most important features and now it's gone. And no, i can't use categories
because i already use them for other things.

Things like this are the reason Microsoft is loosing ground to much more
innovative and plugged-in companies like Google.
