Calendar invitation version conflict

When sending calendar invitation from outlook 2003 to outlook 2000 a text
message is received with some syntax statements instead of the window with
accept and decline buttons. Also, when receiving invitations from outlook
2000, a text message is also receive instead of the window with accept and
decline. Can anyone give me an idea on how to resolve this? Thanks.

don't set reminders on the items and make sure Ol2000 has all the latest
upgrades.
