Calendar appointment showing as a jumble mess vs. clear appointment

When I send a calendar appointment to a user, they get the
screen shown below, instead of a nice clean graphical
appointment.

Are the settings on the PC of origin incorrect, or the
recipients PC? Either way, I would greatly appreciate
feedback on how to correct this.
