Calculator keeps poping up

Mike

I'm running a a fresh install of XP Pro on a new Dell
Latitude D600 with all of the latest XP service packs. The
Windows XP calculator randomly opens up while I'm typing.
It doesn't happen when I'm in a particular application or
at a particular interval.

I've checked for shortcut keys and rogue programs running
on the system. All signs point to it not being virus-
related (I've run AV scans and checked the registry
through). Additionally, no strange processes are running
under taskmgr. I've also verified that the calc.exe isn't
set up as a screensaver or a scheduled task.

I'm really quite dumbfounded and would rather not rebuild
my system. Can anyone shed light on this? Have you seen
this before?

Thank you in advance,

.
I can make the the Calc.exe pop up by pressing "next
track" button on the multimedia keyboard that came with
this HP Pavilion PC when I am running XP from my D: drive.

When using Windows ME which the the PC came with from C:
drive, all the buttons do what they should or can be
programmed to do. With XP my volume control dial, mute and
standby buttons work as does what is now a calculator
shortcut.

You could try uninstall/reinstall keyboard even try
calling it something it is not, until someone comes up
with a definite answer as to reson for mystery calculator.

May even solve problem.

Did you ever get it to stop popping up? I have the same problem. I have a Dell Demension 8300.
