Decimal Point Missing in Calculator

B

Bulent Yazici

I'm using XP Pro and started up my trusty Microsoft
Calculator (/windows/system32/calc.exe) and started
adding numbers together. I wasn't even looking at the
screen, just typing away. To my horror, the number I was
expecting didn't come up. I tried several times and put
the numbers in slowly and it still didn't come up.

Tried it again by actually looking at the screen rather
than typing at 110wpm and realized that whenever I
pressed the decimal point, it wouldn't put it in. This
was using the numeric keypad. I thought, right, my
keyboard has gone funny, so decided to add the numbers
using the mouse and clicking on the digits on the
calculator. I was even more suprised when I couldn't find
the decimal point on the calculator. The button where
it's supposed to be is there but there is no "." symbol
on it.

I've tried switching to scientific mode, and all other
fancy options that made no sense to me but no luck. I've
also copied over the calc.exe from a different machine
and it still doesn't work.

Any ideas ??

the only thing I can think of is that maybe one setting is incorrect.

GO to CONTROL PANEL>REGIONAL and LANGUAGE Options

and check if the language (under standards and formats) & country is correct
for your location.

Tell me if this solves your issue.

You can also try some freeware calcs from these sites:
