Calculating Time Remaining

Does anyone know a way around the "Calculating Time Remaining" when moving
large files around on my PC? I've tried the hotfix and some registry edits
but nothing seems to work. I rip DVD's of church services to WMV files.
These files are 150 to 250 megs each. Usually I have to reboot my computer
to move each one. This is nutz.

I'm open for ideas. (No...I'm not moving back to XP -- it came on my laptop)

Thanks.

Yeah... but it didn't take 1 hr to move 2 .wmv files on the same local C
drive. BTW.... I have a 160 gig drive with 30 free and it's a 7200 rpm drive
(3 gigs of RAM) -- new machine.

I'd have the same problem with my Vista Home Premium, it took about 30 sec.
to delete any file whether text or graphic
I endured waiting for an upgrade that will resolve the problem but to no
avail.
So I gambled and run System recovery to restore to the original
manufacturers installation - that did it!
I had HP Pavilion system. Of Course this takes little time to re-install all
the programs I had - but it was worth it!!
This is up to you. It may not work on your machine.
Good luck!

This same thing happened to me. I called tech support. He said this was a
virus that caused this problem because if you reboot in safe-mode and try to
move-delete-add a file it doesn't do it. So I would recommend trying to get
rid of the virus (name unknown) or as I did completely re-install Vista.
Mine works good as new and fast now. Good luck!
