Calculate a Grand Total

Kim Jackson

I have an Excel file with 30 years worth of detail figures with "sums
at the end of each year. How do I add up all the "sum" totals to get
Grand Total for the entire 30 years without changing all the "sums" t
"subtotals"

Hi
try a formula like
=SUM('sheet1:sheet30'!A10)
if A10 is the summary cell on each of your sheets

Hi!

Is it helpful to mention that the sum of all of the items plus the su
of the sums of all of the items will be twice the Grand Total of th
items??

Hi Kim,
Different interpretation. But it sounds like all your detail values
and SUMs are in one column (in one sheet). There is no way to add up
only detail constants or only the SUM formulas directly in Excel. SUBTOTAL
is builtin and will not be added in as you know because you mentioned
it. So without conversion You would simply total the entire column
and divide by two.

She could manually enter =sum(and hold control key down select the total
ells) --- cumbersome but will work
