Cached Mode synch problems

I'm running Outlook 2K3 in cached mode on one machine and it all "seems"
fine, but if I logon to another machine running Outlook XP (not cached mode),
I can see a number of messages (about 12) from recent days that I had already
read and deleted. Those messages appear unread. Exchange is Exchange 2000 SP2.

If I switch Outlook 2K3 from cached mode to non-cached mode, it's the same
as Outlook XP. Also new users created in AD don't appear in the GAL for a day
or two.

Any ideas?

Is this happening to any other users?
When you're on the OL2003 PC, do you see "connected - all folders are up to
date" ?
Have you looked in the Sync Issues folder in OL2003?

Re your new users, you might post with more info in
microsoft.public.exchange.admin - and you are way behind on your patching
for Exchange. You ought to be at SP3 (and the post-SP3 rollup) ...

Thanks for the reply. I'm just rolling out Office 2K3 and haven't seen any
other users with this problem yet.

In OL2K3, yes, I see connected, all folders up to date. No synch issues in
that folder.
And I think you're right on the money with the SP2/SP3 issue - I'm hoping
that will fix it, but I'm a little wary that applying SP3 will create more
problems than it solves...

And you're sure your view settings are not set to hide any messages, in the
profile that has cached mode enabled?

It shouldn't...but of course, do a full backup first.
You might get the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer (EXBPA) - a free download
from Microsoft. Install it and run it against your Exchange box.

Think I've found it - if I force a Send/Receive on Exit it syncs nicely. Then
both cached and non-cached are the same.

Now on to SP3...

Thanks for your help.
