I found some trojans hiding in my java folder under cache. McAfee scan
states it cannot delete. I can get rid of them myself but this brought up a
question.
Since its in a cache file can I not delete the entire file as I would do
with a temp file? I thought cache files were "disposable".

What makes you think that's the only place the trojan is hiding?

The correct way to remove a trojan -- if it can be removed at all-- is to
let antivirus software do it. Absent antivirus software, you need to follow
specific instructions for the removing the specific trojan on your computer.

I thought that was clear as I stated I was using McAfee "antivirus software
which found it and said it couldn't delete it.. However I will be trying
other programs next time. For now I have deleted the cache file.

I trust you turned off system restore, cleaned your sys before turning sys
restore back on?
Some infections can only be removed whilst running in safe mode
