Does MS have a tool that will extract files from a CAB file? Or is there a
3rd party tool to do this?

Bill

Try right clicking on the CAB file and selecting Explore. Right click on the
file you want to extract and select Extract.

There used to be a tool name EXTRACT which had a bunch of options.

Extrac32 /e cabname.cab

in a "DOS" box seems to work but some of the other stuff like /d for
display doesn't seem to work anymore. It appears you have to include
the .cab in the extension.

Some of the third party zip programs also work - for example, freeware
www.zipgenius.it and I believe shareware winrar. (www.rarlabs.com)

Hi

If you are thinking about a tool you can use from command line or
script, you can use extract.exe from Microsoft.

Extract.exe is included as a utility in the support tools installation
package on the WinXP CD.

Install "Support Tools" by starting suptools.msi from
<cd-drive>\Support\Tools\

Also note that there is updated versions of Support Tools available:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools

If you don't have a WinXP CD, or you want to use the latest version of
the tools, it should be ok to install and use the downloadable SP2
version of Support Tools on a WinXP SP1 computer.

Download and install this Free program

I tried the right click, but explore is not an option. Opening it with
WinZip is and that works good. Thank you for your help.
