Have two computers in household, both running Windows XP
Home eddition.

One shows the Windows Directory as C:\WINDOWS. The other
shows it as C:\WINNT.

How did the second one end up with WINNT and what is
WINNT?

Howard

C:\WinNT was an upgrade from Windows 2000. C:\Windows was a clean install!

More complicated than that. The computer with the WINNT
was purchased new from Gateway and was supposed to have XP
home edition on it. When I start the computer, it says
it's loading XP home edition. However, there is no Windows
folder listed in the files, just the WINNT folder.

Howard

OEMs can do it any way they want. Crusty old fart rat bastard was
talking about the retail CD install.
