When checking the above my operating system is showing as OS=Windows_NT when
in fact it is Windows XP Professional. Is this right? How do I change it?

It is right and there is no need to change it. XP is Windows NT 5.1.

XP is the latest version of Windows NT, under essentially a 'marketing'
name
