c:\progra~1\micros~2\office\setup\off97pro.stf is missing or corrupt

I somehow long ago installed Office 97 professional on my
XP based computer. When I try to uninstall it I get
c:\progra~1\micros~2\office\setup\off97pro.stf is missing
or corrupt and then it tells me to try setup again. I do
but Outlook won't install and I get an unsucessful
statement. Odd thing is Word, Powerpoint and Excel are
still working fine. I need Outlook, can anyone tell me how
to uninstall it...Thanks in advance

There is a utility called ERASER97.EXE from Microsoft,
download it from them and run it. Warning this will remove
all of Microsoft's registry entries for Office97. Then
manually delete the directories.
