C++ & C#

I have an old c++ service application written in c++. Now i'm planning
to use VistaDB.NET as a database engine for my application as i want
to move my service based application into a Windows XP embedded
platform.

The C++ service currently talks to a C++ COM dll which then gets the
data from Microsoft SQL server.

So now the question is how to do a get the C++ service to talk
directly to another application to get the data from VistaDB.NET. I
assume this new application should be in C#.

So basically im looking for a way for the C++ service to communicate
with the C# application for data access.

interop

the embedded apps I've done wouldn't tolerate the overhead, but some can,
thus interop is pretty much out-of-the-box (minus some UDTs if you have
any).
