buzzing sound

A strange buzzing sound comes through my speakers when I boot up my computer.
It continues all through the time I am working, but I can control the
loudness of the sound with the speaker's volume control. Sometimes, if I
reboot, the buzzing does not occur. Very strange! I have Windows XP SP2
Home edition. Could you help, please?

try unplugging and replugging your speakers...
the audio plug may be a bit dirty or loose
 
just a note you might want to check.....some cell phones cause interference
with computers. I use nextel direct connect and it causes puter speakers
amongst other things to go nuts...if so keep phone away from puter as it can
cause damage.
