Hi,
OK maybe the marketing guys at MS are enjoying their new little emoticons
and oh so amazing artistic advertising all for just £1
Frankly i'm not enjoying having to stare at this advertising.
Where's the 'Stop showing adverts' checkbox on the options box please?
I don't want to be told what's "hot" today for winks or emots or anything else
I want my MSN 7 to be clean and tidy, not full of advertising.
The advert on the main window.. fine.. the MSN today which can be turned off
is fine...
I don't want to see these crappy BUY THESE EMOTICONS NOW messages.
Thankyou very much
and yes i know this is windows messenger.. but i cant find the MSN 7.0
newsgroup.

Thanks Alot.

I don't like them either, but it IS a free program without any
spyware/trojans/virus's etc (that you get with so many other "free"
programs). I certainly don't hold it against Microsoft for trying to turn
profit with a fine little application. It is "my" option as to whether to
buy additional items - or not!

I don't complain about the small sh*t!

microsoft.public.msn.messenger

Alternatively, if you want just "clean and tidy" then since Windows 95 IIRC
each version of Windows has included a copy of Windows Messenger.

Ummm....
Isn't MSN messenger a free product?
Kind of like watching TV... we don't have to purchase every episode of
"Neighbors" or "Needy Homemakers" ...advertisers pay for it. We pay for the
infrastructure and support of the broadcast medium. In some cases, we just
own the TV and pick up the radio signal, no cable or sattellite box neeed.

My suggestion: Be happy that someone is giving you something for free! If
you don't like it, there is always AOL, Yahoo!, ICQ, etc.

www.trillian.cc

A client that uses MSN, AIL, Yahoo, IRC and a few others without splashy
ads. You will get the occasional guilt message, but can be ignored. I
ended up buying it because I find it truely useful @ home and work.
only downside is if MSN or someone else changes security or protocol,
you can be down for a few hours or a day while trillian updates their
stuff.
