Business Licence Q's

Jonathan Roberts

Hello, Got few questions.

I got a DVD from PowerTogether... its a Business Edition. My question about
this is, is it a OEM, or RTM? If its RTM, is it transferable (ex. If I get
new computer, can i format that old computer and install that on the new
computer?)

And if I decided to do upgrade anytime to Ultimate Edition, will the upgrade
go in effect under my key, or would I get new key? If I get new key, can I
use it toward the installation? Or do I have to install as Business, then
upgrade as Ultimate? Is Ultimate consider as Upgrade or Retail once I
purchase via Window upgrade anytime?

Also, when I upgrade to Ultimate, will the family pack be available for use,
or is this only available to those people who purchase hard copy of
Ultimate, Upgrade or Retail edition? Does the family pack carry Retail or
Upgrade version of Home Premium?

Sorry too many questions here, I tried to do search and nothing. I hope this
will be helpful for those who have the same questions as I do, and the
answer here hopeful!

Hi Jonathan,

1) It's a question of retail/OEM, not RTM. RTM is the final code, which is
what you have. The disk is probably a retail disk, meaning it's transferable
to new hardware.

2) If you choose the Anytime Upgrade to Ultimate (which is a retail
upgrade), it will be a new key to unlock the Ultimate bits. See:

3) The family pack comes with the full version of Ultimate, not the upgrade.
It would have the retail full version of Home Premium available.

Yeah, sorry, I was typing this 2 in the morning. My bad, Retail VS OEM :)

So I cannot use this key to re-install, I have to use two key eveyrtime I
install Vista (Business key then Ultimate?) as in if I want to do a format
and reinstall them?

Thats not what I am reading, I am seeing that Upgrade version through retail
channels are available for family licenese.

In other word, what does my copy "consider in microsoft's eye" when I
upgrade from my Business edition to Ultimate? Retail Ultimate Full/Upgrade
or just "online upgraded" of Retail Business? or what?

Thanks!
