Burning in PAL format?

Yes... the Tools > Options > Advance tab includes a choice to toggle between
PAL and NTSC.

I've tried it to the extent of making PAL files that play on my computer,
from NTSC inputs... but being in NTSC turf, there's nothing more I can do
with PAL files... as my TVs and camcorder are NTSC.

Thank you kindly. Since one of our DVD players and one of the TV can display
in PAL, I will give it a try.

I have a similar issue, but the other way around. I now live in Spain (NTSC)
and my Camcorder is UK (PAL). Using output NTSC and video captures ok. Then I
set up a project to add just a jazzy title then save to my computer. It
always gets so far (sometimes in the same place) then freezes. Tried it on
different videos and same thing. No error messages. I am quite new to WMM so
any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Andres

If the cam is PAL you need your project in PAL, then output in PAL, and use
a standards convertor to change it to NTSC. This is the expensive part as a
good stds convertor costs a few hundred pounds. Did you not also take your
pal tv etc with you?
Anyway, doesn't Spain use PAL? I didn't think ther were any Euorpean
countries that used NTSC, France uses Secam????

Hi Graham. Yes, you are correct. It is PAL. I only live here!
I changed the project to PAL then tried saving to my computer and this time
it went a lot further (71%) but stopped. Tried again and same thing except
19% after reboot.
Is there a size restriction? I recaptured the same video and but only 5meg
of it (original is 36meg) and it finished ok. Another video capture is 70meg,
which also fails.
Trying to get my old family VHS onto DVD. It cant be a memory issue as the
PC has 1GB and 80GB disk. Pc is a P4-3Gig. This is so frustrating and a shame
as WMM looks good.

Thanks
Andres

Movie Maker does not work well with all analogue capture, unless you use a
specific analogue to digital convertor, one which takes the analogue signal
and oputputs it as digital via a firewire, or a pci analogue capture card.
This is possibly your problem if you are trying to use the tv-in on a
graphics card.
List how you are trying to do it.

Hi, I'm using a DVD EZMaker Gold video card. My video camera has no svideo so
I connect audio out to my graphics card and video out to my video card.
Copying the video using WMM is fine whatever the size. Once copied I add a
title and then save to hard disk. This is when the problem starts and I get
the windows error or it just freezes. I saved a 6 meg test video with titles
and which worked. The one I am trying is 71meg.

Thanks, Andres

Hi Graham
WMM captures it in .wmv format and yes, the audio is connected to the sound
card.

Thanks

The video card came with neoDVD standard. I have started using this. It
doesn't capture to AVI but mpeg-1, mpeg-2, VCD and DVD Video. I capture to
mpeg-2 edit in Easy Video Splitter then rejoin using Easy Video Joiner. Works
ok.
reading other forums they recommend capturing to AVI, edit then convert to
mpeg-2. Should I be doing it this way?
I did prefer WMM as I found the editing quite easy. Just cannot save movie
after adding titles and transitions...crashes, locks up etc. Can WMM capture
to AVI? Can-t see it on setup but read somewhere it can. if so then I will
try again. Maybe something to do with .wmv?

Thanks
Andres
