Do you actually have a DVD burner, with the proper DVD burning/authoring software installed?

yes I have it is a Toshiba dvd-rom sd-r2512 drive, so i asume it is when i
look at the properties
it says device type: DVD/CD-ROM drives

so I assume I can, how would i definitly find out (with out looking at the
book) as I dont have this anymore

Well, a DVD/CD-ROM 9if htat is what is says) drive can only read DVD/CDs, and not write to them. If you open MY Computer, and see the drive(s) listed it should say (if it were a DVD Writer for example) DVD-RW Drive.

If you are using the inbuilt burning in the system, it does not support
DVDs at all. You need third party software - eg Nero or Easy CD Creator

it does have a dvd-rw drive
