Burning Cd causes BSOD

Has anyone seen this? When I try to burn a CD, either
data or music, I get the BSOD. For data, it happens after
the table-of-contents is written. For music, it might
happen on the first song, or after the 7th song. I have
tried Nero 5 and Roxio 6. I did a repair install of
Roxio, with no improvement.
It had been several weeks since the last time I had used
the drive as a burner. It was OK with a data CD then.
And it works OK as a CD-ROM. After the problem showed up,
I installed Win2K SP3 with no improvement.
I had been having some trouble with a backdoor virus and
trojan frequently showing up, and deleted several files in
WINNT32 folder that appeared related. Also a few registry
keys that McAfee said were related to the infection.
If that was the problem, can anyone tell clue me in to
which files/keys I screwed up?
Thanks
