burning a CD

When I go to write my files to a cd my microsoft tells me there is no disc in
my drive but there is.
some discs I can open up, but some wont. Can anyone help me please.
I am not a computer whiz so please be gentle :)

Hi Barry, my cdrw drive is about 5 years old. However I was able to burn
discs on it last week with no problems. This just started the other day.

I wish mine lasted five years. If commercial disks work but you are
having problems with disks you burned or cdrw disks
then usually that's a sign the drive is failing especially with that
amount of years on it.
