burning a audio cd

my windows media player won't burn a cd. when i hit start burn 99% of the
time it does nothing, the other 1% it may say inspecting on the first song
and freeze up. does anybody know the answer to this.

Is WMP your default app for burning or do you have Nero, Roxio or another
app installed? If you want to use WMP make it your default player.

Also, click the My Computer icon on desktop, then rightclick your CD-Rom
drive and click Properties>Recording tab and click "Enable CD recording on
this Device">click Apply and OK.
