bunch of DUA q's

Hello-I have a bunch of DUA q's..
Can anyone explain when using Device Update Agent:
1. Does the .dup command file delete itself after the DUA
polls it and the commands are executed or do you have to
tell it to delete? When the .DUP Poll location is on a
network server (remote) and several target devices have
DUA polling this network location for the .dup file how
and when does the file get deleted?

2. Can you have one script run and after say 5 devicess
execute it reboot, delete the .dup file and then copy a
second .DUP fle to the poll location?

3. What happens if you turn off run on start in DUA?

4.What is the working dir actually used for?

5. Expand Command Filework dir Path using the
Environment on the Embedded device : what is this? What
is expand mode, how does it work and how does an
environment variable come into play?

Thanks in advance
..

If you are using a remote site, you will have to verify that the .dup file
was applied to your run-times, and then you'll have to maually delete the
..dup file. In your .dup file, you can change the polling location of DUA on
the client so it doesn't run the same .dup file over and over.

If you are polling a local media (by copying the .dup and update files to
your C:\), the .dup file is deleted after it is run by DUA.
2. Can you have one script run and after say 5 devicess
execute it reboot, delete the .dup file and then copy a
second .DUP fle to the poll location?

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do here. What (if I understand
you here) you can do is put two .dup files on the server. In the first .dup
file, change the DUA polling location registry key so that it points to the
second .dup file. After the client reboots and DUA starts again, it will
run the commands in the second .dup file. Does that make sense?
3. What happens if you turn off run on start in DUA?

The DUA service is disabled. You'll need to manually start the DUA service
on the device.
4.What is the working dir actually used for?

It's used as a temporary storage location to store the update files.
5. Expand Command Filework dir Path using the
Environment on the Embedded device : what is this? What
is expand mode, how does it work and how does an
environment variable come into play?

Expand mode is where you can substitute things like %10% for "Windows" or
%system drive% for C:\
See the topic: "Resource Editor Parameters and Windows Predefined
Directories"
in the help.

Hope this helps
