Interesting. I've never heard this term before. Unfortunately, the page
with the definition is restricted, but I was able to get this piece: "In a
presentation, the Bumper slide signals a transition to a new section. Think
of the Bumper slide as the sorbet that is served between courses of a fine
...." Is the phrase coined from this book only (I couldn't find the reference
anywhere else). I've always called these Topic Slides myself.

Rakeesh, PowerPoint 2007 actually has a Section Header layout to create
these type slides. See: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint/HA101942821033.aspx
If you don't have 2007, you'll need to apply your own formatting, but the
storyboarding of the presentation (flow of content) is more relevant than the
formatting.
A bumber slide, also called a Theme Graphic slide, is a generic slide that
is used between presenters. So when one presenter wraps up their talk, a
bumber slide is then onscreen until the next presenter is ready to start
with their slides.
