Bullets

Up until yesterday I could easily create a bulleted list. I would just hit
enter and the next bullet would appear. If I wanted to indent I could hit
tab. If I wanted to outdent again I would hit tab then backspace. Now the
tab key only works to indent and I can no longer outdent using the backspace.
I am not sure what setting I changed. Has anyone seen this before? I have
word 2003.

Take a look at Tools>AutoCorrect Options - AutoFormat As You Type & adjust
the checkboxes as you wish... although a lot of knowledgeable people would
suggest that you leave most of those feature turned OFF :)

Thanks! I found this options menu and was able to set the auto indent using
tab but I am not able to outdent using backspace as I could previously. Now
backspace erases the bullet.

I'm not sure Backspace really ever did this (regardless of the wording of
the option), but Shift+Tab does.

Thanks! I heard about the Shift+Tab from a co-worker but it didn't work for
me. I was able to finally get backspace to outdent bullets by going to
tools, auto correct options, and then selecting "set left and first indent
using tabs and backspaces." I had to reboot for it to work properly.

Backspace only 'promotes' if you are on the second level or deeper. If
you're on the first level the assumption is that you want to remove the
bullet for that paragraph.

From your previous message, I assumed you already had this option selected.
How else were you able to use Tab to indent?
